Happy National Pumpkin Day: Easy DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece + More

We’re well into the pumpkin season, and while the squash native to North America is fun to eat and sip on, I wanted to show a few unique ways to dress up your pumpkins this holiday season. Of course what better day to share these DIYS than on National Pumpkin Day. The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which means “large melon” in Greek. How to Pick a Pumpkin When looking for the best jack-o’-lantern, choose one that will decompose the slowest. Stay away from soft spots and dry, thin stems. Always pick one that feels heavy for its size because that’s means it’ll be better for cooking with the more […]

[Shop the Look] Neutral Halloween Decor Ideas + House Tour

This year I’ve scratched the traditional Halloween decor to opt for a more neutral color scheme that’s inspired by a dark, mysterious author. Edgar Allan Poe, one of the founding authors of horror, terrified audiences worldwide with his works: The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death.  Not only does this neutral theme compliment my current style, but I can reuse a few key accessories already in the room to complete the look.  The decor is mostly limited to our entryway, living room and eat-in kitchen, since those are the main areas of the home where we spend most of our time. I’m loving the way it turned out! Our fireplace mantle, shelving unit and other tabletop surfaces have a mixture of old and new Halloween decor displayed in various neutrals, textures to create a dimensional masterpiece Poe would be proud of. So, What Blue Works Well With Cheetos?

OMG, if you missed Thursday night’s premiere of “Will & Grace” then you missed a half hour of laughs at the White House’s expense. The iconic television show took a massive stab at President Donald Trump and the tense political climate on its first episode. Now, this isn’t a post to review the rebooted show or create a political divide — rather Debra Messing’s character Grace Adler who is an Interior Designer, had a few clever lines as she took the job to redecorate the Oval Office. As she tried to pick colors to match the new curtains: “Karen, hand me that curtain swatch. I need to make sure it works with his coloring. (Holds up a Cheetos bag.) Yep, that’s the one.” Grace was trying to match the perfect blue with the coloring of Cheetos.  Which made me think, what are some blues that work well with this bold color?     I […]
