Well, it’s time to part ways with 2016…how does this year rank with year’s past? We offered up a lot of great home staging and decorating tips whether you plan on selling or dwelling, just a little longer in your home. Let’s recap some of the best of 2016!

Home Staging

One of our most read blog posts was actually about how to hire a real estate agent — you know the dos and don’t — not to mention those important questions to ask to really find out the truth about how professional the potential agent is. Bill Gassett a top real estate agent in Grafton, MA. provided his expert advice to create this post that readers can’t seem to get enough off.

Ah, young buyers or what we call millennials have be swarming the market this year, really changing the way homes are being shown. It’s no surprise, these buyers are looking for certain features to check off their buyer wish list. Home builders have been listening to their wants, have you as a seller? If, not then learn how to get young buyers interested in your home.

Home selling is no easy task, especially if you’re living in the home while on the market. Did you know there are three important keys to selling  your home — one of course includes home staging.

As a home stager, it’s important to continue to educate real estate agents and home sellers about the home staging process — what’s involved, the cost and statistics behind this powerful marketing tool. We put all those frequently asked questions into a guide for agents

Have a home that is empty on the market? Only 10-percent of buyers can visualize the potential of a home, that’s why home staging is crucial when the home is vacant. Find out what happens and if it’s worth staging.

One of the biggest issue that can turn buyers away is a home’s smell. Yes, every house has a smell — does yours stink? If you don’t know then ask a judgmental friend or a person not familiar with the home to take a sniff and give their opinion. Learn how to detect and deter those bad smells.

Decorating

A question I get asked all the time is how to properly hang wall art. What’s the right height? Or, better yet what should be hung? Well, here are some tips to get you started on choosing the right wall art.

Another issue homeowners always have is how to actually decorate and place furniture in those open floor plans we all desire. I find it amusing that it’s on everyone’s wish list, but then most times people have no idea what to do with them.

Who doesn’t love a good theme, right? It’s great for a movie, a book and in a home most of the time. (Don’t go overboard!) But, using a theme is a great way to add some personality to a room or even an entire home.

One of the hardest accessories to shop for are window treatments. There are endless ways to style your windows so they frame a beautiful view, while still being functional. So, let’s dress them up!

Are you a right brain or left brain thinker? The answer can affect the way you actually decorate your home. No really! Decorating a home takes some visual thinking in order to figure out how to arrange furniture and accessories in the home that’s eye appealing.

Now, while cleaning isn’t actually decorating it is an important part of the process to keep everything in your home clean to avoid bacteria build and dirt on all  your decor. Let your home shine with these tips.
