Are you ignoring the corners in your home? These odd in-between places that can confuse homeowners usually end up in decorating limbo, not being utilized for it’s valuable space.
What should you do when two walls connect in a room? Here are seven ways to maximize the corners in your home to create functional beautiful spaces that connects with each room.
Entry Corner
Corral all the items that come in and out of your home in the nearest corner to a door. Use hooks, baskets, and shelving to hold items like shoes, jackets, bags and even equipment and gear. Why not add a bench or seating area nearby to easily remove items, this also slows down the process when you enter and leave the home hindering the habit of flinging items about.
Entertaining Corner
Love to entertain? Consider adding a bar cart in the corner of a living or dining area to store bar supplies such as top shelf liquor, wine, drink ware and water. Dress up the rolling cart by adding cocktail books, flowers, fruit and even monogrammed coasters. This creates an easy way for your guests to serve themselves.
Working Corner
Maybe the corner is big enough to add an office space or writing area in the room. Use a small desk or even a deep shelf and chair to set the scene. Don’t forget to add some wall art to define the space and keep the desk’s surface organized. You can easily add a work corner in a kitchen, living room, bedroom or even a guest room.
Scheduling Corner
If you have a busy family that’s always on-the-go, why not turn a corner in your kitchen, mudroom, laundry room or office into a space that keeps your family organized. A family command center should have a master calendar, a place to store important paperwork and an area to keep everyone in the family on track.
