If you’ve been following our journey online, then chances are you’ve stumbled across my husband, Sal Arena. Today (well, actually June 27th) we get to celebrate you as you enter into your 45th year of life! You’ve never wanted to be thrown into the spotlight, but as you’ve supported my goals throughout life you’ve become the networking king, life of the party and outgoing co-host — which many have come to recognize.
Dear Poop,
We met nearly 20 years ago and it’s been a privilege to be around you as you nurture, problem-solve and spread joy to everyone in your world. I admire your innate ability to get along with ANYONE and your outgoing personality. You’ve encouraged me to believe in people and support them, regardless of the outcome.
Today I am thankful to be your wife. I’m thankful that you chose me, and that you continue to choose me daily, despite my imperfections and annoying habits. Thank you for loving me no matter how many times I move your mouse clicker or sit on the sidelines as you cook us an amazing dinner. Thank you for giving me your patience as you pursued me and never gave up on me. I truly feel your love for me and I hope I can show you what that means to me.
As an encourager you’ve stood by my side, sometimes forgetting about your own dreams, to allow me to chase mine from a TV Reporter to a Home Stager to an Author and beyond…thank you for allowing me to discover, who I am and how I can contribute to our relationship and the world.
Your forward-thinking mentality is a rare quality in a man, who tend to think about gender roles in a relationship. There are no lines drawn between our roles, we’ve come to be a pretty amazing multi-tasking functional unit that conquers everything we’ve set out to do.
The memories we’ve made together and the memories that are to come always put a smile on my face. Our outlandish travels from Bora Bora to Italy, the road trips, our animal house, long walks and work outs (even your support in the NYC Marathon), throwing 4th of July bashes, cooking, dance parties and all our other adventures. I couldn’t have chosen a better person to share life with.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next twenty years, and for the next twenty after that. I can’t wait to see all that you’ll do as we decide our next adventures and goals, because they’ll never be boring with you.
I don’t know what I’d do without you, you’ve become the rock in my life! While we’ve had our ups and downs it’s your positivity, forgiveness and can do attitude that’s seen us through. From Superstorm Sandy to health issues our relationship has experienced it all at some point, it’s been tested time and again — but it’s your resilience that pushes us forward.
Your positivity is infectious! You see the glass ‘half full’ and always choose to see the good in every situation.So let’s make the most of each moment today and everyday. Let’s not regret a single second.
The world needs more men like you in it, poop. You are such a staple in my life and the lives of so many. I’m thankful for every day I get to spend with a guy like you, our marriage, our friendship, and the little fur-family we created. So today, on your special day, I hope you know you are loved now and forever!
