Refresh Home Decor This Spring

by | Mar 24, 2016 | Decorating, Entertaining, Home, Lifestyle | 0 comments

Spring has sprung, which can only mean it’s time to refresh your home decor this spring by brightening up your home with fresh flowers, welcoming spring colors and whimsical Easter-themed touches.
Easter Ideas Inside Too
Once you’ve done a clean sweep of your home before guests arrive, it’s time to infuse new decor into your entertaining spaces. You can of course refresh your home decor in two ways. First, shop your home to use items you already have. Try placing the items in a new arrangement or location in a room. You can also get creative and use the item in a new or unusual way. The second way you can refresh your home decor is by purchasing some new pieces from your favorite home decor shop. Many of the items that you’ll see in this post are from Pier 1 Imports.

Welcome Guests Into Your Home

Start at the curb by incorporating spring into your home. Add seasonal flowers like tulips, daffodils and lilacs into your flower beds and planters. Flowers instantly make people smile and can lighten the mood. You can also add a decorative wreath and doormat that will welcome guests into your home. Use a wreath that has simple flowers or foliage on it to extend it’s life after Easter or you could show off your holiday spirit and choose a wreath, like this one pictured below that features carrots, from Pier 1 Imports.

Easter Home Decor Ideas

Refresh Home Decor #1: Add Pastel Color to Your Home Decor

Change out winter blahs by adding a pop of color to your home. But, not just any color you pastels -pinks, blues, greens and purples to introduce colors into your space. Pastels create a light, airy and fresh feeling that almost supports the idea of spring and new beginnings. You can use pastels in anything from a pillow to a plate. Just check out all the pastel finds out in the market place today.

Refresh Home Decor #2: Use Mother Nature to Set the Mood

You’ll also want to bring the outside in. Use foliage or flowers to add easy no-fuss freshness to any room. While I did find these amazing fake flowers at Pier 1 Imports (you can see in video below), hubby plans on replacing the winter foliage on display with some fresh ones. You can also swap out your pinecones with moss balls or even potpourri. This is sea air potpourri from Pier 1 we found.

Refresh Home Decor #3: Dress Up Your Furniture

One of the easiest ways to dress up your couch for each season is to find throw pillows. Check out these cute pillow finds in the photo above. I love that both styles have 3-D appliqués that give the pillows personality. The colorful bunny back pillow is from Kohls, while the linen pillow with pastel flowers and bunnies is from Pier 1 Imports. Make sure to watch the video below to see what pillows I used to change out my sweater pillows.

Refresh Home Decor #4: The Smells of Spring

Try a new scent for spring. One of my favorites as you already may know is Pier 1’s citrus cilantro, but this spring we’re debuting in our home their Honeysuckle scented candle, as well as their Sea Air line, which is a combination of jasmine, gardenia and tropical melon. P.S. it smells amazing!

Refresh Home Decor #5: Lighten Up Your Fabrics

Another tip to freshen up your space is replace your heavy fabric curtains like velvet or tweed with lighter fabrics like linen, cotton or even silk. Use these fabrics not only in your curtains, but in bedding, throw pillows and blankets and even in upholstered furniture.
