MLK Qualities Can Inspire Sellers

by | Jan 20, 2014 | Home | 0 comments

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a great man who fought for equality even when all odds were against him, I wanted to make this video to inspire sellers.

I had a dream to  inspire sellers and  that one day all rooms will look like a photo from a magazine spread, that all homes will sell in 1 week or less and sellers would get above asking price.

Now I know our dreams are different, but home sellers could learn something from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s demeanor. He possessed important qualities to succeed now let’s apply them to the home selling process to get you one step closer to the closing table.
Patience is a hard quality to obtain. It took more than one speech or sit in to end segregation. It will take more than one open house or ad to get your home sold. Be patient and you will find the perfect buyer.
Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr. bravery showed when he stood up to millions of people to talk about his dream. When deciding to put your home on the market it takes courage, because you don’t know what the future holds. Sometimes you have to sell because of a divorce or you can’t afford the home anymore. Or maybe bravery is putting your self out there despite being criticized by buyers. Let it be known that this what you want and take all measures necessary to prepare your home for sale success.
As he took on a leadership role and as a seller (inspire seller) you must become a leader of your marketplace. Make sure to research your neighborhood comps, demographics and psychographics then tailor a home staging plan to attract potential buyers this way they’re buying your house and not your neighbors.
Persistence is key. Even from a jail cell Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. continued his fight. If buyers are not making offers or maybe a deal fell through ask them what turned them off and fix those issues, then remarket the listing.
The last characteristic Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had was trustworthiness. He had so much confidence he captivated the audience. Home sellers can gain trust by completing a home pre-inspection and making repairs, so buyers know you have nothing to hide. You can gain confidence and captivate the audience by staging your home so give buyers an illusion of the lifestyle they may have.
With these characteristics Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. conquered his dream and I believe if more sellers adopted these qualities my dream would become a reality. If you’re a home seller having trouble gaining these characteristics let us know one thing you can do to change your demeanor or maybe you have these characteristics already, share your success stories below.
