4th of July Decorating Ideas for the Home

by | Jun 30, 2016 | Decorating, Entertaining, Home, Home Staging | 0 comments

Are you ready to show off your stars and stripes this 4th of July? Our house is infamous for it’s birthday parties for America. July 4, 1776, is a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. So, why not throw an awesome party for the land that you love?

Rather than the standard red, white & blue themed decor, try these 7 unique ways to mix those colors into your current decor to stay on budget and show off your patriotism without throwing the average party. First, ask yourself what does America mean to you? Maybe take a cue from America, The Beautiful lyrics:
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
Then try and simply infuse the three colors of the American flag into your home’s style, neighborhood or theme.

A Play on Fabric

Try introducing red, white and blue through modern graphic patterns in your fabric– on your throw pillows and your tablescape. Mix patterns in patriotic colors (not necessarily all three colors or the standard contemporary hue). To keep the different prints from looking too busy, be sure to introduce different scale prints through linens and serve ware.

Go Vintage

There are so many ways to add America’s heritage into your party’s decor. Try using vintage signs, flags, past family photos, images of our founding fathers or even antique colonial pieces to inspire the history of this amazing country.

4th of July Celebration

Patriotic Flowers

Plant in a flower bed or display in a vase red, white and blue (may not be true blue) flowers as a way to get guests into the spirit. Petunia, impatiens, lobelia, verbena, pansies and bachelor’s buttons can be found in all three colors.

Colorful Refreshments

What’s a party without drinks? Alcoholic or non, you can still dress up the beverages you serve. Use clear drink dispensers to mix up a red, white and blue refreshing masterpiece. Try this one I found on Pinterest that shows off a colorful non-alcoholic punch for the kids. You can also use skittles to color vodka, make a berry sangria or nothing says America like Jell-o shots.

Taste the Freedom

Oh for the love of food dye. You can make just about any tasty treat patriotic with food coloring. Try dressing up a pasta dish, make a cake’s center a flag or freeze the colors to create the perfect outdoor treat.
